The role and opportunity

As the Business Planning & Performance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of AgResearch. Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide insightful financial planning and lead a team dedicated to excellence in performance management. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with top scientists, senior leaders and industry partners, driving decisions that impact both New Zealand and the global agricultural landscape.

What you will be doing

  • Lead financial planning and performance strategies, ensuring high-quality insights and informed decision-making.
  • Develop and manage funding and costing models to ensure the organisation's financial sustainability.
  • Provide operational and capital investment analysis, supporting robust business cases and performance improvements.
  • Foster a high-performing team culture, mentoring and empowering your team to excel.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and policies.
  • Promote health, safety, and well-being initiatives for your team and the broader organisation.

Your ideal background

You are a strategic thinker and collaborative leader with a strong finance and business performance background. You excel in complex environments and are passionate about innovation and sustainability.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Accountant qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership experience in senior financial roles.
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and integrated financial planning tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
