Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

 

Woodlands Research Farm is based near Invercargill, and is one of New Zealand's pre-eminent sheep research farms, providing a credible commercial platform for undertaking a wide range of relevant industry research.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is enthusiastic and passionate about the farming industry to join the team on a casual basis. This is a hands-on role to assist with operations dedicated to general sheep and cattle activities on the farm and will involve all farm activities when necessary.  

 

  • General farm duties including assistance with livestock management, lambing, sheep and trial work as required;

  • Working with Science to support research goals;

  • General maintenance on the farm, weed spraying, pasture topping, repairing fencing and water reticulation.

Ōpūmanawa | About you

 

  • Previous farm experience, including good working knowledge of animal health, stock handling and recording, aspects related to technical, mechanical and maintenance operations;

  • Current full drivers’ licence;

  • A keen, motivated attitude, along with good communication skills.

  • Demonstrates safe workplace behaviour by taking all practicable steps to ensure own and other’s safety in the workplace
