Metabolomics Services Coordinator

The proteins & Metabolites team is looking for an enthusiastic metabolomics services coordinator to join our team. This is a part-time, fixed-term secondment opportunity based at our Lincoln campus. If you are looking for gaining experience in leading small projects, using your coordinating skills in a science platform, and collaborating with many science teams across AgResearch, this role might be for you.


This position is a 0.5 FTE secondment opportunity while the incumbent is on parental leave


What you will be doing 

The Metabolomics Services Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery of metabolomics analyses and maximum possible utilisation of instrumentation in the platform.

 You will also:

  • Co-ordinate the metabolomics lab, including managing service relationships with instrument vendors and leading instrument troubleshooting.
  • Deliver smaller and especially service-type metabolomics projects with support from the metabolomics platform leader and scientists
  • Lead day-to-day work of the metabolomics technicians.
  • Ensures that the metabolomics laboratory runs smoothly, including sufficient stock of consumables and up-to-date maintenance contracts. 
  • Perform lab work to help meet delivery deadlines.  


Your ideal background

This role requires someone who has demonstrated:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a related field, preferably encompassing both science and project management.
  • Creativity around planning and problem solving,
  • Knowledge in lab management and sample handling
  • Experience in liaising with vendors and stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience with mass spectrometers is a plus
  • A keen attitude and motivation to work in an innovative research environment
