NZAGRC Contracts Manager


Who we are

The New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre (NZAGRC) is a government funded initiative designed to accelerate the discovery of new technologies and practices to reduce agricultural greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). It is a business unit of AgResearch Ltd, a Crown Research Institute.


The Roles and opportunities

An increase in the long-term government funding means that we are seeking two experienced Science Contract Managers to oversee contract negotiation and day to day management, monitoring and reporting of a complex portfolio of domestic and international research initiatives.  One appointee will focus on domestic research contracts and the other on international initiatives.


What you will be doing

  • Negotiating, managing, drafting, monitoring and reporting of large integrated research contracts
  • Day to day operational decision-making with respect to contract management, working alongside the NZAGRC Directors (Domestic and International)
  • Managing and ensuring compliance with Intellectual Property and Release of Information agreements
  • Assisting in the development, monitoring and reporting of NZAGRC science and business plans
  • Preparing funding approval cases for Governance and Advisory Groups and reporting quarterly on the progress of funded programmes


Your ideal background

  • MSc or PhD in relevant science discipline
  • 3 years relevant experience in a science focussed organisation
  • Demonstrated understanding of science process, including contract negotiation, implementation, management and reporting and the development and implementation of a science funding strategies
  • Highly organised with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage a demanding workload
