Technician - Animal Nutrition & Physiology


The Role and Opportunity

 AgResearch is seeking a passionate Technician to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. Based at our Grasslands Campus in Palmerston North, the 5 standard days of work per week for this role will include Saturday and/or Sunday, which will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

In this largely hands-on role you will be involved in the planning and execution of research methods through the various stages of research projects, predominantly in the methane mitigation area. This is an innovative team to be a part of – if research into early life nutrition and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ruminants is of interest to you, this is an exciting opportunity to work in this area of cutting-edge science while having some fun!


What You will be Doing

  • Perform specific research components of larger projects
  • Collection and collation of trial data, and its preparation for analysis
  • Ensure full compliance with Animal Ethics, EPA, MPI & AgResearch guidelines, including the development of such guidelines as required
  • Work closely with Animal Facilities staff and other Science teams to ensure project objectives are met



Your Ideal Background

  • A keen attitude and motivation to work in an innovative research environment
  • Proven track record of excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while being part of a collaborative team
  • Experience in working with large animals in a farm and/or research setting
  • Demonstrates safe workplace behaviour by taking all practicable steps to ensure own and other’s safety in the workplace
