Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
Are you passionate about supporting cutting-edge research in animal health and parasitology? We’re looking for a skilled and self-motivated Technician to join our team and contribute to impactful research projects.
This position is 16 hours per week (0.4 FTE), and fixed term for 4 months to provide essential technical support, and to enable us to understand our permanent recruitment needs.
As a Technician, you will play a key role in coordinating and conducting data collection, analysis, and reporting for research projects—both in the field and laboratory. Working under the direction of a Supervisor or Project Leader, you’ll be involved in multiple stages of research, applying a range of tests and techniques with a high level of complexity.
This is a hands-on role that requires initiative, problem-solving, and the ability to adapt or modify methods as needed. You’ll be expected to work independently and manage technical duties from planning through to reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting field and laboratory-based data collection and analysis, Performing routine and complex testing across multiple research stages, and accurately record, analyse, and report research findings.

Ō pūmanawa | About you
- Proven experience in parasitology diagnostics and husbandry methods.
- Proficiency in faecal egg counting (all standard techniques), larval culture and recovery.
- Strong data entry and reporting skills with attention to detail.
- Confidence in animal handling and sampling procedures.
- Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality standards.
